Etiquette experts are split, but tipping on the pre-tax subtotal is generally accepted. For simplicity, many people tip on the total including tax.
Calculate each person's subtotal from the receipt, add the agreed tip percentage to each, then pay individually. This tool splits evenly; for uneven splits, calculate per-person tips separately.
Tipping 10-15% for takeout is increasingly common, especially when the order is large or required significant preparation. It was less expected before 2020 but has become more standard.
