Audio Latency Tester
Measure your audio round-trip latency using your speakers and microphone.
Microphone access needed
This tool plays a short tone and listens through your microphone to measure round-trip latency. Audio stays on your device.
5 rounds by default · Configurable before starting
About this tool
- 1
Allow microphone access
Grant microphone permission so the tool can detect the test tone played through your speakers.
- 2
Start the test
Click Start - the tool plays a beep through speakers and listens on the mic for the round-trip time.
- 3
Review results
After 5 automatic rounds, see your average round-trip audio latency in milliseconds.
- 4
Check audio context info
View output latency, base latency, and sample rate from the Web Audio API.
- Place your microphone close to your speakers for the most accurate round-trip measurement.
- Round-trip latency includes: audio output pipeline + air travel + mic input pipeline + browser processing.
- Typical round-trip latency ranges from 10-50ms. Under 20ms is excellent for music production.
- If mic access is denied, use the manual mode - it is less precise but still useful for rough estimates.
- Automated round-trip audio latency measurement with 5-round averaging
- Real-time waveform display showing mic input and spike detection
- Audio context info: output latency, base latency, sample rate
- Adjustable test tone volume and detection threshold sensitivity
- Manual fallback mode for testing without microphone access
- Latency rating from Excellent (<10ms) to High (>50ms)
- Measuring total audio latency for music production or live performance
- Comparing audio pipeline latency between different audio devices or drivers
- Diagnosing audio sync issues in video calls or streaming setups
- Testing if ASIO or low-latency audio drivers are making a difference
