FOV uses HFOV = 2 · atan(W / 2D) where W is screen width and D is viewing distance. VFOV = 2 · atan(tan(HFOV/2) / aspect). This gives your physical field of view, which may differ from in-game FOV settings.

See the calculated optimal FOV and convert between different game FOV systems.

  • A FOV that is too wide causes fisheye distortion at the edges; too narrow feels like tunnel vision.
  • Sitting closer to your monitor generally benefits from a wider FOV setting.
  • Some games measure FOV vertically (Overwatch) while others use horizontal (CS2) - this tool converts between them.
  • Calculates optimal FOV based on monitor size and viewing distance
  • Converts between horizontal, vertical, and diagonal FOV values
  • Supports common aspect ratios: 16:9, 21:9, 32:9, and 4:3
  • Game-specific presets for popular titles
  • Visual diagram showing your effective field of view
  • Optimizing FOV settings after upgrading to an ultrawide monitor
