Reaction Time Test

Measure how fast you react to visual, audio, and aim stimuli — timed with performance.now() precision.

Average human reaction time is roughly 250 ms for visual stimuli and 170 ms for audio. Pro gamers typically average 150–200 ms.

Consistency (low standard deviation) matters more than a single fast attempt. Timing uses performance.now() for sub-millisecond precision.

About this tool

  1. 1

    Choose mode

Select Visual (color change), Audio (beep trigger), or Aim (click target) reaction test mode.

  2. 2

    Start the test

Click the test area to begin. Wait for the signal - do NOT click during the red/waiting phase.

  3. 3

    React to the signal

Click as soon as the screen turns green, you hear the beep, or the target appears. Your time is measured in milliseconds.

  4. 4

    Review results

After 5 attempts, see your average, best, and worst reaction times with a rating.

  • Average human visual reaction time is around 250ms. Below 200ms is excellent for gaming.
  • Audio reaction time is typically 20-40ms faster than visual - humans process sound faster.
  • Aim reaction tests factor in mouse movement time, so they are naturally slower than simple click tests.
  • Fatigue, caffeine, and sleep all affect reaction time - test at different times of day for comparison.
  • Visual reaction test with random delay and too-early detection
  • Audio reaction test using Web Audio API beep triggers
  • Aim reaction test with randomly positioned targets
  • 5-attempt sessions with average, best, and worst calculation
  • Performance rating from Incredible (<150ms) to Slow (>350ms)
  • Precise timing using performance.now() for sub-millisecond accuracy
  • Testing your baseline reaction time for competitive FPS gaming
  • Comparing reaction time before and after caffeine, sleep, or warm-up
  • Training reaction speed for esports with regular practice sessions
  • Fun competition between friends to see who has the fastest reflexes
